1. Change One

You've learned to recognize the signs: the way he freezes, the way his gaze hardens, the way he retreats inward, or when he dozes off into space. You know those names and places must remind him of that cursed night. Or cursed nights. Grief haunts him, and no matter how much time passes, it's like he's still trapped in that horrid moment, carrying the weight of trauma he can never escape. You wish you could do more, but for now, silence is all you can offer.

2. Change Two

“We can sit down and chat a bit,” you suggest, glancing at Ash.

“Yeah, sure. That sounds good,” he says, nodding.

The two of you settle on your bed, sitting cross-legged and facing each other. There’s a comfortable pause as you both get situated.

Ash tilts his head, his eyes searching yours. “So... what do you wanna talk about?” he asks, his tone curious but light, like he’s ready for anything you might say.
